FC Talanta make formal appeal over abandoned Gor Mahia match

The FKF Transition Committee’s Leagues and Competirions committee is yet to pronounce itself on the fate of FC Talanta’s home fixture against Gor Mahia which was abandoned after K’Ogalo failed to turn up last weekend.

FC Talanta officially wrote to the committee on Monday invoking Regulation 3 in demanding for the maximum three points and two goals for the match which was to be played last Saturday.

CEO Douglas Ratemo said it was only fair that FC Talanta are given the points because that is what the rules say.

“As the home team we had everything in olace for the match but it is ironical that nobody informed us of the cancellation of the game if at all that was the case,” Ratemo said, adding that the letter which purportedly postponed the match was neither addressed to the club nor was it copied to FC Talanta.

“We came across the letter through social media and we have stated as much in pleading our case to be handed the points.

“The rules are clear that if there is good reason to postpone a match then such should be done within not less than 72 hours before the match.”

The letter from the Transition Committee, signed by its Head of Secretariat Linda Oguttu, was dated May 13, which was the eve of the match.
