FC Talanta Football club was created in 2012 as a sports incubation project to serve as an exit-strategy for football trainees graduating from the National Youth Talent Academy. It offers the young upcoming professional players an opportunity to be exposed to the market.
The academy and the club offer young players recruited from the grass root an elite platform to showcase their talent and a decent employment opportunity to earn through exploitation of their sporting talent. The team currently plays in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL), the top tier of football in Kenya.
The main purpose of the club is to provide vulnerable and marginalized youths with an avenue to expose their talents as well as earn a decent livelihood. The club offers limited opportunity (one to two years) for exposure, professional training, life skills and entrepreneurship training before linking players to better professional careers in and out of Kenya.
The club has been playing in the Football Kenya Federation organized leagues since its inception. By policy, the club is designed to select potential players from the Kenya Academy of Sports Talent Development Programme.
